Kathryn Tickell & The Darkening summon up the dark, powerful sounds of ancient Northumbria and the wild, dramatic, history-strewn landscape of Hadrian’s Wall. Two thousand years ago that landscape was inhabited by people from around the world, worshipping different gods, following different customs. The Darkening embrace this diversity, bringing ancient influences to life, finding new contexts for old songs, intermingling it all with brand new material and an expansive, fearless artistic attitude.

fROOTS “A crucial and exhilarating band setting the world on fire.”
