“The best acoustic for chamber music in Europe”
Sir Simon Rattle, Conductor

Our spaces offer a beautiful environment for professional audio recording. With a first-class acoustic, virtually sound-proof triple glazing and choice of two Steinway D Grand pianos, the concert hall is the ideal recording space for every type of classical chamber ensemble, soloist, or acoustic artist.

Just some of the major labels that have selected us for their commercial recordings in recent years are: Decca, Hyperion, Virgin Classics, Naxos, BIS and Linn Records. And countless artists have laid down stunning tracks in our grand environs: Christian Tetzlaff, Yevgeny Sudbin, Alfred Brendel, Joanna MacGregor, Stephen Hough, and Alison Balsom to name a few.

Baritone Matthias Goerner and pianist Graham Johnson recorded Schubert’s Winterreise for Hyperion Records here, lauded by all major newspapers including the Sunday Times, “Goerne’s Winterreise is one of the records of the year.” BBC Music Magazine said, “The one to knock Fischer-Dieskau and Gerald Moore from the pedestal.”
