It’s important to us that your wedding reception is everything that you ever dreamed it would be. Also, as a registered charity, the income generated by the venue goes directly towards supporting St George’s artistic and education programmes. We can accommodate between 40 and 180 guests (including the wedding couple and any children in the party).

Our Events Team, Bar Manager, Wedding Coordinator and carefully selected caterers will work with you to create a bespoke day, leaving you secure in the knowledge that every detail, no matter how small, is being taken care of.  As an extra gift from us, we’ll also give each wedding couple a voucher to redeem against concert tickets at St George’s Bristol after your celebration with us.

We’d love to hear from you and talk more about your plans!

St George’s was a beautiful site and the employees were the perfect hosts for our wedding celebration in July 2019. The staff were incredibly accommodating and flexible when it came to our requests for ‘personal touches’. We couldn’t recommend this venue and its lovely staff enough – the made our memorable day perfect. Thanks again for all your help!

Location

Surrounded by our private, secluded gardens and situated between Park Street and Brandon Hill, it’s no secret that our venue is nothing short of breathtakingly beautiful. As a wedding reception venue in Bristol city centre, St George’s is also a stone’s throw away from ceremony venues including the Council House and a myriad of historic churches.

St George’s is a beautiful, elegant and stylish venue, that provided everything we wanted and matched our personal vision for their wedding day.

We truly appreciate the amount of attention to detail that was put into to the presentation of the venue, the manicured gardens, the cleanly swept steps and the beautiful hall and cafe.

We are also aware that there was a lot of work going on behind scenes to make the day run smoothly. Coordinating with the vendors, communicating with us and on the day you and your staff were extremely professional and helpful.

We have nothing but praise for you and St George’s. We would not hesitate to recommend St George’s and it’s team for a wedding or event.

A truly beautiful space with lovingly maintained gardens…a rare find.

Dream Weddings

Thank you for all your help with our wedding preparations and the day itself. It was such an amazing day and we loved every second, and really appreciate the work of all St George’s in making it so great. Especially allowing us to have everything just as we wanted it, including the choir, which I’m sure added a bit of extra stress from your end.

FAQs

Do you offer packages?

We don’t offer packages, we prefer to give you the flexibility to plan a truly bespoke day to suit your tastes.

Can you give me an idea of pricing?

Of course! Our prices for 2023 start from £4,500. From April 2024, they’ll start from £4,560.

How many people can we invite?

The hall is ideal for between 80 and 180 dining guests and can accommodate as many as 300 for your evening reception. In our smaller spaces we can accommodate up to 80 seated guests and up to 100 evening guests.

Can we have our ceremony at St George’s?

Unfortunately due to our unique history as a former church, we can’t have any kind of religious or legal ceremony or blessing take place in our building or in our grounds. However, we can host non-religious blessings carried out by friends or family members.

Do you get very booked up in the summer?

We’re not quite like other wedding venues…because we’re also a concert hall! Typically, we don’t have concerts across the main summer months. Which means we often have great summer availability for weddings.

Can we set up the day before?

When you hire St George’s you are guaranteed access from 9am until 12 midnight on the day of your wedding. Access on the days before and after your wedding is dependent on other events, but if we can give you access, we will.

Will there be anyone to help us set up and take down decorations?

Some of the St George’s staff will be available to help on the day, but we would recommend that you ask some friends and family to come in and lend a hand. You don’t have to take your decorations down, or take them away, on the day of your wedding (unless you want to of course!). We’ll let you know when you will be able to come in to take down your decorations during the wedding planning meeting 2 weeks ahead of your big day, as this can vary depending on other events we are hosting. Please bear in mind there are some restrictions as to the types of decorations we can have due to our building being Grade II* listed, but we can always talk through your ideas with you and discuss what’s possible.

If you would like to sit back and relax we can clear the venue for you with our ‘pack down’ service. We will take down your decorations and collate them in a pre-agreed location, ready for you to pop in and pick up during your collection time.

What about parking?

As a city centre venue we have very limited space for parking at St George’s, however we will prioritise your needs, and endeavour to supply up to 4 parking spaces. There are fewer spaces available during the week. These spaces will need to accommodate your caterers, photographer, band etc. so please bear that in mind when you’re planning your wedding. Guests are welcome to use the parking spaces as well, but registration numbers will need to be supplied before the event. If you’re visiting for a meeting or a tour and would like a parking space, please get in touch to book a space beforehand.

Can we supply our own drinks?

No, we do not offer corkage options. Our bar prices are very reasonable, and the selection on offer is wide ranging and locally sourced. A wine tasting with our knowledgeable Bar Manager is complimentary, and we’re confident we have wines that you’ll love!

What about food?

We only allow catering which is supplied by one of our preferred suppliers. The only exception to this is wedding cakes, which should be supplied by a professional with the appropriate food hygiene certification.

What time are you licensed until?

We are licensed to serve alcohol and play live or recorded music until 11:30PM, and to have guests in the building and grounds until 12 midnight.

Can you supply a DJ or musicians?

We don’t have preferred entertainment suppliers as music tastes can vary hugely – but we’re happy to make some suggestions of listing sites for you to start your search!
