Anna Tysbuleva

Anna Tsybuleva is a rare virtuoso, combining total technical command with breathtaking naturalness.

Her winning performance at the Leeds International Piano Competition in 2015 was greeted with wide critical acclaim – “Not since Murray Perahia’s triumph in 1972 has Leeds had a winner of this musical poise and calibre,” raved the International Piano Magazine. Nine years later and she is without doubt one of the premier pianists of her generation, performing widely in major cities across the world and collaborating with some of the most prestigious conductors.

Tsybuleva grew up in a small village in the Caucasus mountains, where nature and the beauty of her surroundings proved a constant source of inspiration. These beginnings have fed directly into the development of her artistry, characterised by a captivating intimacy: drawing the listener into a private sphere of music-making in even the largest of concert halls. Her Complete Debussy Préludes: The Visual Album captures this beautifully.

Tonight she bridges the two musical worlds of Rachmaninov and Debussy, exploring their much-loved, and also less familiar, preludes – expressive, lyrical, dark and light.
