Benedict Allen
Missing in Papua New Guinea
This event has passed.
Very few people can claim to have sparked an international media manhunt. But when explorer Benedict Allen disappeared in Papua New Guinea, he hit headlines across the world.
In 2017, explorer and survivalist Benedict Allen went missing. He was travelling alone to a remote part of Papua New Guinea to film an isolated community he’d visited 30 years before.
He had no phone, GPS tracking or any means of communicating with the outside world. It was only when he failed to turn up for a speaking event in Hong Kong that his disappearance attracted global attention.
Don’t miss this first-time screening of Benedict’s film. It tells the dramatic story of what really happened, followed by a Q&A with the man himself.
Benedict Allen is one of the world’s leading modern-day explorers, once described by the Radio Times as ‘Britain’s most fearless man’. He is also one of only two people alive today included in the Daily Telegraph’s gallery of Great British Explorers (the other being Ranulph Fiennes).
During his entire adult life, Benedict made solo expeditions to the furthest corners of the planet – from Namibia to Mongolia and from the Amazon to Siberia. He has captured extraordinary footage entirely by himself and shared these travel experiences through his books and his many BBC television series. Benedict is a great speaker and has entertained live audiences in venues around the world.
