Jon Boden & the Remnant Strings + Amadou Diagne

Bristol Folk Festival

This event has passed.

Jon Boden headlines the Saturday Night of Bristol Folk Festival, with support from Amadou Diagne.

Jon Boden & The Remnant Strings

Best known as the lead singer of the folk big band Bellowhead, who sold over a quarter of a million albums over their twelve year career, Jon Boden‘s repertoire extends far beyond the boundaries of the folk genre.

Drawn from the line-up of Jon’s genre-busting big band The Remnant Kings, Jon Boden & The Remnant Strings features Jon Boden (fiddle, guitars, concertina, stomp-box), Helen Bell (viola), Morven Bryce (violin) and Lucy Revis (cello).

This special performance offers a more intimate experience. Expect music from Jon’s solo albums and from across his career including Bellowhead, Spiers & Boden and Folk Song A Day.

“Resurrects the swagger of Bellowhead” Financial Times

“Ambitious, genre-busting folk” The Guardian

Amadou Diagne

Amadou Diagne is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and singer, with traditions of West Africa at his fingertips. Emerging from a family line of percussionists and praise singers in Senegal, and a former member of l’Orchestre National du Senegal, Amadou’s unique sound has seen him play stages and festivals all over the globe, collaborating with some of the biggest names in world music.

“Honey-smoked vocals. Plaintive, acoustic and brimming with an unhurried assurance.” fROOTS
