Brad Mehldau, widely considered the foremost jazz pianist of the age, brings his trio to St George’s after two decades away. In that time he has established himself as the embodiment and essence of jazz exploration, combining classical romanticism and pop allure into one of the most lyrical and intimate voices of contemporary piano. A totally unique, unmissable concert.

From critical acclaim as a bandleader to major international exposure in collaborations with Pat Metheny, Renee Fleming, and Joshua Redman, Mehldau continues to garner numerous awards and admiration from both jazz purists and music enthusiasts alike. His forays into melding musical idioms, in both trio and solo settings, has seen brilliant re-workings of songs by contemporary songwriters like The Beatles, Cole Porter, Radiohead, Paul Simon, Gershwin and Nick Drake; alongside the ever-evolving breadth of his own significant catalogue of original compositions. The programming team at St George’s has been working hard with live music producer Serious to make this concert happen. Due to the complexities of international touring, we have only been able to confirm this two and a half months before the concert. Mehldau’s trio will be the perfect fit for St George’s beautiful acoustic – this will be a totally unique, unmissable concert.
