Mozart Clarinet Concerto
Beethoven Symphony No 3 Eroica

In 1987 Grant Llewellyn conducted the very first concert given by BHCO in St George’s,  so it is great thrill for us to welcome him back to conduct this evening of classical greats. Mozart’s sublime clarinet concerto sits at the heart of the programme and in the second half BHCO plays one of the pillars of the symphonic repertoire – Beethoven’s Eroica.  The soloist is rising star Ben Aldren,  principal clarinettist of the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra.

For those of you have seen the film Maestro you will be interested to read Grant’s recollection of being a student of Leonard Bernstein. As you might expect, plenty of good anecdotes in this article that Grant wrote for BBC Music Magazine.
