Dani Howard Argentum
Mozart Flute concerto in D K314
Tchaikovsky Symphony No 4 in F minor Op 36
Smetena Vltava
Conductor Tim Harrison
Leader Rachel Evans
For the spring concert Bristol Metropolitan Orchestra welcomes flautist Luke Russell to play Mozart’s Flute Concerto. We are also playing Argentum, a piece that was written by Dani Howard to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Classic FM, and Smetana’s sensational Vltava.
The largest work is Tchaikovsky’s monumental 4th Symphony. Famously it starts with a motif that others have described as the voice of Fate; Tchaikovsky himself felt that the first movement signified that ‘all life is an unbroken alternation of hard reality with swiftly passing dreams and visions of happiness.’
