Classical Up Close: Fitzhardinge Consort

Part of Just Announced

This event has passed.

Firm St George’s favourites, the Fitzhardinge Consort, return to present a programme of beautiful unaccompanied choral music specially curated to bring delight to the ear fully utilising the famous acoustic in our main hall.

There will be many well-loved favourites which will appeal alike to classical music lovers and those exploring the genre for the first time. Pieces to be performed will range from the baroque music of Henry Purcell to contemporary minimalist composer Arvo Part, and also include the iconic Miserere by Gregorio Allegri.

Classical Up Close

Classical Up Close is a new strand of concerts offering a glimpse into the breadth and richness of the classical canon in an informal setting. For these first three concerts artists will perform in the round ‘on the flat’ (not on the stage) in the main hall at St George’s, and audiences will be able to sit or stand around them, or move around if they want. Each concert will be 45 minutes long and give a snapshot of a particular element of classical music: baroque, chamber and choral. These bitesize concerts are ideal for newbies to classical and classical lovers alike.
