ETH Big Band
“Charming, lovingly chaotic, sometimes powerful, colorful, and talented” is a fitting description of the ETH/UZH Big Band. For over 30 years, the ensemble has served as an ambassador for ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich, performing at a high musical level and touring in numerous countries. After international travel came to a standstill during the coronavirus crisis, the ETH/UZH Big Band is now embarking on its first tour since the pandemic. They bring with them a beautiful and diverse repertoire, with each concert thoughtfully adapted to suit the atmosphere of the venue. Experience Switzerland’s leading university big band, with musicians from five nations, under the long-time direction of Christoph Eck. We look forward to seeing you!

Bristol Hornstars
Hailing from Bristol University’s Big Band Society, The Bristol Hornstars are one of the premier jazz bands in Bristol. This big band is well-known for mixing Jazz, Funk, Latin, Swing and modern classics to bring an incredible atmosphere and energy to local venues, festivals, formals, balls, weddings, and private parties all around Bristol. The fully auditioned 20-piece ensemble features and showcases student talent from a variety different courses within the University of Bristol, such as Law, Psychology, Bio-chemistry, Engineering and many more. The band is conducted this year by Oliver Manley, a 3rd year music student at the University. The vast repertoire of the Hornstars features many pieces composed and arranged by current and past members, resulting in a fresh and exciting sound from this purely student-run group.
