Filkin’s Ensemble

The sheer joy, energy and sophisticated musicianship radiating from the stage mark Filkin’s Ensemble out as a new folk tour-de-force. A 14-piece supergoup, Filkin’s Ensemble have created a stunningly beautiful and distinctive new sound. For those unfamiliar with their work, think Penguin Café Orchestra, meets Bellowhead.

The ensemble’s gorgeous contemporary arrangements of traditional songs stop you dead in your tracks. A string quartet, clarinet, bass clarinet, saxophone, guitars, and orchestral percussion, wrap playfully around soaring vocals.

Drawing inspiration from classical and jazz, Filkin’s Ensemble is the bold vision of Seth Bye and Chris Roberts who have recently earned widespread acclaim for an 870 mile foot-powered-tour, with national airtime on BBC Radio 2, 3, 4, 6 Music & BBC World Service.

‘They create a sound that is truly joyful’ TradFolk

‘Full of delicacy, precision and gentle delight’ The Guardian

Jacob & Drinkwater

Wild men of song, UK alt-folk duo Jacob & Drinkwater have been called “stand out new folk” by BBC6 Music & “inventive & thrilling” by R2 Magazine.

Jacob’s sweeping vocals deliver spine-tingling moments; the fluidity and precision of his finger-picking underpinned by Drinkwater’s nimbly rhythmic double bass; at times sweetly soaring, at others haunting, percussive and driving.

Featured numerous times on BBC Radio 2, BBC6 Music and lauded by their musical peers as one of the most accomplished acts touring the UK.

The Standing Stones

What is a festival without a shanty? Hailing from London, this recently-formed collective of young Shanty Men are breathing new life into an old tradition. From cozy pubs… to ever-so-slightly bigger pubs, they enjoy singing haunting old folk songs as well as coastal classics.

Their mission? To prove that singing is good for you. And singing with others is even better.

Hold onto your hats!
