Cult instrumental group Haiku Salut perform an original contemporary live score to Buster Keaton’s 1926 legendary comedy classic, ‘The General’, regularly named as one of the greatest films ever made, and a landmark of silent cinema.
The group perform to Cohen Media’s stunning 4K restoration, hailed by Total Film as “a jaw-plunging blend of physical dexterity and bravura movie-making”. Haiku Salut (Gemma Barkerwood, Sophie Barkerwood and Louise Croft) describe themselves as “an instrumental dream-pop-post-folk-neo-everything trio from the Derbyshire Dales”. They play sccordion, piano, glockenspiel, trumpet, guitar, ukelele, drums, melodica and “loopery and laptoppery”.
The Buster Keaton Picture Show was created and commissioned by Nottingham Contemporary’s The Screen at Contemporary and supported by BFI Comedy Genius Seasonxxx
