Nature's Digital Detox

Nature’s Digital Detox is a free immersive installation focusing on the therapeutic effects of nature. Drop by and experience the outdoors indoors, delivered via projections and spatial sound in the spaces of St George’s. The installation aims to promote mindfulness, groundedness and the calming feelings you experience when in woodland, and it is inspired by cultures from around the world that use nature as a medium for meditative processes.

This installation has been created by Michael Allam and Laura Sandy, students from UWE Bristol’s Design Enterprise Studio www.designenterprisestudio.com. They wanted to create an audiovisual journey through our natural environment that helps you relax and unwind, and connects you to the beauty and tranquillity of nature. Designing this experience at St George’s was significant. “Music is all around us and in nature too,” they say.

Michael Allam Digital Artist

A creative storyteller at heart, with a passion for all things design and artistic expression. I grew up in Nigeria and Lebanon, two vibrant and cultural worlds that have shaped the way in which I view and appreciate art. I specialize in digital art and design for branding. Laura Sandy Sound artist and composer

I am a composer, artist and cellist currently studying music technology at UWE Bristol. I grew up listening to film soundtracks and have always had a particular interest in the connection between music and visual art and a majority of my current work is audiovisual. As I have grown and developed as an artist a lot of my musical inspiration now comes from electronic, shoegaze and classical music. I post my artwork and music on Instagram (@laurasandy_art)
