Perhaps you already know the famous story of The Nutcracker – a little girl’s enchanted nutcracker doll who transforms into a handsome prince. Listen as the fairy tale unfolds through the music and live narration from the stage – from the March of the toys on Christmas Eve, to the Battle against an army of evil mice. Escape through the Forest of Fir Trees, and arrive with Clara and the Nutcracker in the Land of Sweets, to meet the Sugar Plum Fairy.
For this unique festive concert, Tchaikovsky’s orchestral music is being performed entirely on brass instruments, by brass ensemble Septura.
Septura is made up of seven of Britain’s leading brass players from the country’s top orchestras. What better place to hear their new arrangement of The Nutcracker than in the spectacular acoustics of St George’s? This programme also includes festive favourites such as Bach’s Christmas Suite, and highlights from Handel’s Messiah.
