Bristol Ensemble

The Planets and Interstellar

Part of Just Announced

This event has passed.

A magical evening of music inspired by our solar system and space travel, played by the Bristol Ensemble – orchestra for the West of England – celebrating the 150-year anniversary of Gustav Holst’s birth.

Programme

Zimmer Interstellar
Holst The Planets Op 32

This will be a very special performance of The Planets arranged for chamber orchestra accompanied by wonderful visuals of each planet and the poems that inspired the music.

Alongside The Planets we perform the music for the film Interstellar composed by Hans Zimmer, NASA’s mission is to find a habitable planet beyond our solar system.

Gustav Holst had a huge impact on film music and film composers such as John Williams and Zimmer so this is a fitting celebration of his music and his long-lasting legacy. Join us for a wonderful immersive experience of music, visuals and poetry.
